Sauerkraut and Kielbasa (With Sour Cream)

Ingredients

  • 1 ring of Hillshire Farms Kielbasa
  • 1 lb of sauerkraut preferably home made
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1 cup of shredded carrots
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 3 tbsp of oil
  • 1 tbsp of butter
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Cut kielbasa into desired pieces and fry in a skilled or pot that can later be covered on high heat in oil for about 6 minutes or until desired brown.
  • Take the kielbasa out and adding the butter in the same oil cook the onion on medium heat for 6 minutes or until the onion become translucent.
  • Add shredded carrots and cook for another 6 minutes.
  • Add sauerkraut, kielbasa to the onion and carrot mixture, mix well if needed add some water cover and let it cook (simmer) on medium-low heat for 35 minutes.
  • Add sour cream (and a little water if needed) stir well and let it simmer for another 15 minutes.

    I don’t like Sauerkraut.

    1. Tita, you most certainly can make it with the cabbage! Some similar recipes call for half and half – sauerkraut and cabbage. Just keep in mind that cabbage will be sweet so it may call for some spice to elevate it a little.
