European Style Butter

European style butter is made from sour cream. To make your own

Ingredients

Sour Cream

  • 1 qt heavy cream
  • 2-3 tbs buttermilk

Butter

  • Sourcream
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

To Make Sour Cream

  • Combine the heavy cream and the buttermilk.
  • Let it sit at room temperature for 48 hours.

To Make Butter

  • Whisk/beat the sour cream in a KitchenAid mixer (or similar) for 20-25 minutes.
  • Separate the butter from the buttermilk while try to squeeze out of butter.as much of the buttermilk as you can.
  • Add the salt to taste. (Optional but helps the shelf-life).
